About How the Graduate School Processes are Carried During COVID-19 Pandemic

About Master's Degree Thesis Delivery

Master's Degree thesis delivery procedure has been partly carried to electronic media. Processes up to delivery of blue cover thesis can be completed online. You can reach the detailed information at Master's Degree Thesis Delivery Procedure.

Semester freezing application deadline for 2019-2020 Spring Semester is extended to 30.04.2020. Applications must be done by logging in E-FBE with ITU account and filling the form on this page (Öğrenci İşlemleri > Genel Dilekçe İşlemleri > Covid19 İzin Formu). The form can be filled in English.

General Information About Academic Processes

1. Academic Calendar Changes: Following dates in 2019-2020 Academic Calendar has been changed:.

2. Semester Freezing Requests: Students who cannot continue their academic activities (Course/Thesis/PhD Qualifying) can apply for freezing semester for 2019-2020 Spring Semester with their excuse even though it is their last semester. The requests must be delivered until 17 April 2020. Applications must be done by logging in E-FBE with ITU account and filling the form on this page (Öğrenci İşlemleri > Genel Dilekçe İşlemleri > Covid19 İzin Formu). The form can be filled in English.


3. Corrected Blue/Black Cover Thesis Submission Processes: Thesis submission time of the students who need to deliver their corrected thesis and thesis defense exam dates of the students who delivered their thesis are extended considering the three weeks holiday duration. For students who are in these situations and need to deliver thesis or have thesis defense exam, the dates are updated as 4-8 May 2020. The works are in progress to make thesis delivery process entirely online and there will be a separate announcement about it.
   
   Students have time to submit their blue/black cover thesis until 8 May 2020. However, students who have to deliver their thesis before this date for various reasons should follow the steps below: 
   
   1. The these is sent by e-mail to the relevant personnel (research assistant if MSc thesis, library personnel if PhD thesis) to be reviewed and the approval is also received by e-mail
   2. The blue/black cover thesis is prepared according to the format and its wet signatures are collected by circulated among jury members by cargo/mail.
   3. After the jury member signatures are collected; the blue/black cover thesis, the CD and the thesis submission form are delivered to the graduate school by cargo/mail.
4. PhD Qualifying Exams: PhD Qualifying Exams are to be made on the dates stated in the first item.
   
   
5. Thesis Progress/Proposal Report Presentations: PhD Thesis Progress and Proposal Reports that are supposed to be delivered to the graduate school in June  also had their dates postponed. Reports must be delivered according to the information in our website until 31 July 2020 at the latest.
   
   
6. Thesis Progress/Proposal Report Presentations and MSc/PhD Thesis Defense Exams: All report presentations will be online. For this, it is obligatory for the advisor to use ZOOM (https://zoom.us/) application with his/her ITU e-mail address and record the presentation/exam. The works are in progress to have defense exam results to be delivered to the graduate school online and there will be a separate anouncement about it.

THE GRADUATE SCHOOL OF SCIENCE, ENGINEERING AND TECHOLOGY

Due to new Coronavirus pandemic, all postgraduate education activites and all kind of meetings are suspended for three weeks between 16 Mart - 6 April 2020. In this three weeks period, the graduate school personnel will not meet with students face to face and will not receive any documents. Students can deliver their documents and requests to the graduate school e-mail address fbe@itu.edu.tr. MSc/PhD corrected and blue/black cover thesis submission process dates have also been delayed considering 6 April 2020 at which education activities are predicted to continue.
